Biography

She is a graduate of METU Business Administration. After experiencing corporate life in a company operating in the defense industry in Ankara for 3 years, she surrendered to her entrepreneurial spirit. Between 1993-2005, when there was no equivalent in Ankara yet, she introduced many gastronomy brands with various concepts to the city. In 2007, she left all these brands behind and established the BigChefs Cafe-Brasserie brand without any equity, entirely with bank loans and forward payment plans. Today, BigChefs has expanded to 7 countries with a total of 80 branches and 4,500 employees. In recent years, Gamze Cizreli has placed great emphasis on social responsibility projects, in addition to BigChefs' growth targets. Developing various projects for the fifth goal of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals; Gender Equality, the twelfth goal Responsible Production and Consumption, and the thirteenth goal Climate Action, she is making great efforts for the world to achieve these goals. In addition to her role in restaurant management, Gamze Cizreli has also taught "Entrepreneurship" courses at METU Business School. She has periodically written gourmet and travel articles for various magazines and newspapers. For a period, she hosted a radio program on music, art, and literature on Kiss FM on Sunday mornings. In the "Women Entrepreneurs" competition organized by KAGIDER and Garanti Bank in 2010, she won the first place in Turkey. In 2011, 2013, and 2017, she received the "Businesswoman of the Year" awards at the "Business People of the Year" competition organized by Ekonomist Magazine. In 2021, she was selected among "Turkey's Sustainability Leaders" by Fast Company. Most recently, Forbes listed her among the "50 Over 50 Europe, Middle East, and Africa 2023," which showcases women making a difference in the world.
